05/03/2010 - A multi-ecological city car
Phylla, the multi-ecological, sustainable urban vehicle, is a project born from the Piedmont region's desire to become the driving force and promoter of ecology in Italy by adopting practices which will result in significant reductions in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions through conversion to alternative and renewable energy sources by 2020.
Phylla is an efficient and completely recyclable electric car which eliminates emissions of CO2 and polluting gases in urban areas, and reduces the environmental impact of the car both during its lifetime and when it is scrapped. It uses a combination of traditional and alternative energy sources, with a cost per kilometre well below that of a conventional petrol-engine car.
Running tests make direct or indirect use of renewable energy sources in order to evaluate the best combination of solar, electric and hydrogen power.
As well as the Piedmont region, which is the promoter and guarantor of funds, the Environment Park, the Fiat Research Centre, and Turin Polytechnic are involved in the project.
