We have the pleasure to inform you that Umicore in close collaboration with FWO / FNRS, will award for the fourth time the Umicore awards 2010.

Every year Umicore will award the following prices:

• One Umicore Scientific Award – 10.000 euros – for a PhD, defended at a university in the EER / Switzerland
• Four Umicore Awards “Graduation Works” – 2.500 euros each – for MSc-theses, defended at a Belgian university

The award is intended for young researchers from the EER and Switzerland who have defended a dissertation on fine particle technology/applications, sustainable technology for metal containing compounds, sustainable energy, catalysis, or the economic and / or societal issues of metal-containing compouds.

All applications have to be sent to the Secretary General of the FNRS, Egmontstraat 5, B - 1000 Brussels, before October 1, 2010.

We hope that you will recognise the importance of this award and would like to ask you to diffuse this information (see also announcement in annex) within your university, to related co-workers and potential interested parties and to urge your young scientists to participate.
